Software development · Minneapolis
Websites, mobile apps, and automation for small businesses and nonprofits — built by someone who explains the work in plain language and sticks around after launch.
What I do
Most projects start with one of these and grow from there.
New builds, rebuilds, and platform moves — WordPress, Squarespace, custom. Including redirects, SEO continuity, and making sure launch day is boring.
Updates, security, hosting and domains, and being the person you email when something looks wrong. Retainer or as-needed.
iOS and cross-platform apps in Swift, SwiftUI, and React Native — from first sketch through App Store release.
Practical automation for work you're doing by hand: data entry, content processing, intake, reporting. Aimed at your actual workflow.
Selected work
Founding engineer on an iOS app that turns saved social posts into an organized list of places. Built the SwiftUI frontend, the Firebase and AWS backend, and an AI pipeline that pulls structured detail out of messy captions.
An accessibility app that identifies objects in real time and describes them through audio and haptic feedback for blind and low-vision users. All processing happens on device, so nothing leaves the phone.
Rebuilt a nonprofit's donation-facing site in modern JavaScript. Donor conversion improved and page load time dropped roughly 40% after a round of performance audits and refactoring.
As a mobile engineering intern at Punch Through Design, rebuilt parts of LightBlue — a Bluetooth tool used by hardware engineers worldwide — and introduced a design-to-code workflow that cut UI delivery time by about 45%.
Currently
I take on a small number of projects at a time so the ones I have get real attention.
If the list is full, I'll tell you that instead of overcommitting.
About
I'm a software developer in Minneapolis. I studied computer science at the University of Minnesota alongside UX design and communication — because I've always been more interested in who software is for than in the software by itself.
Most of my clients are small organizations where nobody's job title includes the word "technical." That shapes how I work: I explain what I'm doing in plain language, I tell you when something isn't worth the money, and I don't disappear after launch.
Outside client work I volunteer building technology for animal advocacy organizations, and I published a novel in 2021.

Or what you'd like built. I'll give you an honest read on scope, cost, and whether I'm the right person for it — including when I'm not.
